Investar and South Louisiana Business banks complete merger

Two of the Capital Region’s newest community banks are now one. Shareholders of Baton Rouge-based Investar Bank and Prairieville-based South Louisiana Business Bank each approved a previously announced merger Wednesday. Having already obtained the necessary regulatory approval, the merger will become effective Oct. 1. The combined organizations will have total assets of approximately $270 million, five branches and 70 employees servicing East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Livingston and Ascension parishes. Investar was founded in 2006, while South Louisiana Business started in 2008.
