Maybe you can’t sell them, as the recession takes its toll on the market for high-end and vintage automobile market, but you can still show them. Baton Rouge on May 9 will be overrun with rare Italian sports cars, when the Live Oak Arabians Ranch on Jefferson Highway hosts a major car show as a benefit for the Pancreatic Cancer Actions Network. In an unprecedented event for Baton Rouge, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, Ferraris and Panteras will be on display, along with dozens of rare and expensive American, British, French, German and Japanese automobiles and motorcycles. Among the stars will be a 1966 Aston Martin DB6, a 1971 Lamborghini Espada II, a 1954 Jaguar XK-120, a 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible, a 1919 Buick H45 Touring Car and a 1924 Nash 6. The driving force behind the event, Jeff Cobb, owner of Jeff Cobb Auto Works, says his aim is to make the Live Oak Concours d’Elegance “the best car show in town.” All the money raised will benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. For ticket information or to register a car for the event, call Jeff Cobb at 343-7525 or email zumzum@cox.net. For more details, go to liveoakconcours.org.—Steve Clark
