The iconic authentic French Poupart Bakery is opening a bistro in downtown Lafayette. The Independent reports Poupart’s Bistro will open its doors in Gordon Square on Jefferson and East Vermilion streets in the heart of downtown, near the Acadiana Center for the Arts. The newspaper says Poupart plans bistro-style tables and chairs for seating and a menu that includes freshly baked danishes, croissants and biscuits, along with soups, salads and sandwiches for lunch. The hours are tentatively 7 a.m. to just before dinner time so patrons can grab a bite on the way to work or something to go with dinner on the way home. Poupart Bakery on West Pinhook Road is renowned for its king cakes, dobashes and fresh breads made daily. Some of its popular sweets will be served up at the bistro location, too.
