The Downtown Development District and Visit Baton Rouge are using artificial intelligence to help shape the future of the Capital City’s downtown life.
As WAFB-TV reports, the development district is using a platform called Placer AI to track the most frequently visited businesses and explore pedestrian traffic changes via location data from users’ cell phones.
According to Placer AI, municipalities can use visitation and visitor journey data to track the performance of public assets such as parks and open spaces as well as impact on nearby businesses. This makes it possible to benchmark these against similar areas to identify investment opportunities and optimize long-term infrastructure development.
“Just having those conversations, we realize how powerful the data is and how much it can drive the decisions we make and help us make better decisions,” Downtown Development District Executive Director Whitney Hoffman Sayal tells WAFB-TV.
