Meta has secured a $27 billion financing partnership with Blue Owl Capital to build its largest data center—the $10 billion Hyperion project in Richland Parish, Reuters writes.
Under the agreement, Blue Owl will hold the majority stake while Meta retains about 20% equity.
The project will deliver more than 2 gigawatts of computing capacity to power AI systems such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini. Blue Owl invested roughly $7 billion in cash, giving Meta a $3 billion payout.
The deal is Meta’s biggest private-capital arrangement to date and reflects the escalating race among tech giants to scale AI infrastructure, with industrywide spending expected to hit $400 billion this year. Once operational, Hyperion will create over 500 jobs. Analysts say the move lets Meta expand AI capacity without heavy debt exposure—hedging against a potential “AI bubble.”
