House sets redistricting meetings along the corridor

The Louisiana House of Representatives House & Governmental Affairs Committee is holding a series of meetings around the state to get input from voters on the impending redistricting. Four are planned for the 10/12 corridor. Rep. Greg Cromer of Slidell, who is a member of the committee, says it’s critical that the legislature “have input from a broad cross-section of citizens.” Meetings are scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Greater Covington Center, 317 N. Jefferson Ave. in Covington; 6 p.m. Feb. 17 at Dillard University, 2601 Gentilly Boulevard in New Orleans; 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Baton Rouge Community College, 201 Community College Drive; 10 a.m. Feb. 22 at the Lake Charles Civic Center, 900 Lakeshore Drive; and 6 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, 101 W. Vermilion St. in Lafayette. The Legislature has called itself into Special Session beginning March 20 to deal with the constitutionally-required redistricting, which occurs after every census.
