COVINGTON- St. Tammany Parish Hospital has demolished its St. Tammany Regional Heart Center building to make way for a new medical office building on the west side of South Tyler Street in Covington across from the hospital’s main campus.
“Demolishing the Heart Center to build a new medical office building is part of St. Tammany Parish Hospital’s bold action to meet the growing health care demands of our community in the long-term,” STPH President and CEO Patti M. Ellish says.
The Heart Center was the location of the STPH Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Units and the Pacemaker and Coumadin Clinics. These services have relocated to the Tchefuncte Medical Offices building at 1323 South Tyler Street in Covington near the STPH main campus.
The Heart Center was also the location of the St. Tammany Heart & Vascular Institute, LLC, which were the offices of Dr. Farhad X. Aduli, Dr. Hamid Salam and Dr. Adriana Nagy. These physicians have relocated to the Tchefuncte Medical Offices building.
Additionally, the building housed the Venous & Arterial Surgery Clinic, which was the office of Dr. Philip A. Gardner and Dr. George E. Barnes. These physicians have relocated to 180 Greenbrier in Covington.
The new facility will be a three-story, 60,000-square-foot building with additional parking spaces. It will house physician offices and ancillary hospital services conveniently located in close proximity to the hospital’s main campus.
“We’re accountable to our physicians, patients and employees,” Ellish says, “and they deserve easy, convenient access to the variety of health care services we offer in close proximity to the hospital.”
