Gov. Bobby Jindal has nine challengers attempting to block his re-election bid, and the most recognizable among the bunch is unveiling a set of statewide radio ads this morning. Tara Hollis, a schoolteacher from Haynesville who is slowly being embraced by the Democratic establishment, says her spots will air heavily during The Moon Griffon Show, a popular political program, as well as on other stations. The advertisements can be heard now at her website here. They provide very basic information about the candidate and her pledges. According to her latest campaign finance report, filed last week, Hollis has so far paid Sweet Lou Media of Shreveport about $1,200 for commercial work, and the company donated to her campaign another $4,400 in services. Additionally, state Rep. Jean M. Doerge, D-Minden, sponsored $200 in “ad costs” for Hollis, who has roughly $4,600 in cash in her campaign account. By comparison, Jindal had $7.7 million in his account as of two weeks ago. His media purchases are significantly larger as well. During the final week of August alone, Jindal spent $16,000 for advertising services from Business Report and $5,500 for local spots on WGMB-TV. —Jeremy Alford
