Baton Rouge attorney, lobbyist, and Adams and Reese partner E.L. “Bubba” Henry is one of six inductees into the Louisiana Political Museum’s Hall of Fame. Henry served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1968-1980 and was speaker of the House from 1972-1980. In 1980 he became commissioner of administration for Gov. Dave Treen. This year’s inductees also include the late Fred Baden, who served as mayor of Pineville for 28 years; the late Town Talk editor and columnist Adras LaBorde; the late F. Edward Hebert, Louisiana’s longest-serving member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the First Congressional District from 1941 until his retirement in 1977; Jerry Huckaby, a Democratic U.S. representative from 1977-1993; and Billy “Coach” Montgomery, a teacher, coach and principal who went on to serve in the Legislature. “Well, I’m flattered to be included, and it’s especially meaningful because Jerry Huckaby is a very good friend of mine and I have a great deal of respect for Mr. LaBorde,” Henry says. “All of the people being inducted with me, I knew very well, so I’m very happy and honored to be included with this group.” At 75 years old, Henry says he has no plans to retire. “If a fella has a way to make a living that he really enjoys, then he’s truly blessed, and that’s been my case,” he says. The induction banquet will take place on Jan. 28 at the Winnfield Civic Center, 2000 S. Jones St. Tickets are $50 each, and reservations can be made by calling 318-628-5928. Attendees must RSVP by Friday. Visit the Louisiana Political Museum website here for more info and to see a list of past inductees. See the Wikipedia entry about Henry here. —Steve Sanoski
