Green Heart Meals & Juices, a to-go prepared meals chain from Lafayette, is coming to Baton Rouge with an expected spring opening in the Perkins Crossing shopping center.
The 33,000-square-foot strip center near the intersection of Perkins Road and Essen Lane, has struggled to retain retailers, with The Original Italian Pie, Lady Tiger Depot and an AT&T repair store shuttering in the past year. Green Heart Meals will be taking The Original Italian Pie’s spot, leaving three vacancies in the center.
Hoping to reverse the curse, General Manager Lyly Dinh says Green Heart Meals ownership chose the location because they heard it was a good area for businesses.
The Baton Rouge shop will be the fifth location for the Lafayette-based business, which operates three shops around Acadiana—two in Lafayette and one in Scott. Its fourth location will open in Lake Charles this weekend. The owners are seeking other expansion options around Louisiana, including more in the Baton Rouge area. Owner Michael Nguyen told The Advertiser last year he wanted Green Heart Meals to be McDonald’s of the healthy world.
Customers can order multiple meals for the week online for pick-up or delivery. Grab-and-go meals are available from the shop without ordering ahead of time. There are also $5 deal days, when customers can come in and pick up any meal for $5 each.
