With the LSU Tigers racking up dominating win after dominating win, including Thursday night’s 19-6 thrashing of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, much of the talk about whether the team is weaker without suspended quarterback Jordan Jefferson seems to have subsided. But as Bleacher Report Senior Analyst Henry Ball (who openly proclaims an unabashed love of LSU football and Les Miles) sees it, Miles and the Tigers are “turning their back on one of their own and it is beyond deplorable.” In a recent column, Ball says Jefferson and Josh Johns, who was arrested and suspended alongside the senior quarterback, should be reinstated immediately. “Jefferson and Johns are sidelined and essentially being presumed guilty until proven innocent,” Ball writes. “It seems more and more likely that the two will be proven innocent, and that is the point. In the rush to make sure LSU football players didn’t receive an undue pass for bad behavior, it appears increasingly likely that the BRPD did exactly the opposite: pressed undue charges because they are LSU Football players.” Though he doesn’t advocate for Jefferson to come back as the starting quarterback, Ball says it’s nonetheless “un-American” for the student-athlete to “be sitting at home shoeless and waiting for lady justice.” All Miles had to say on the matter earlier this week was, “Everything that I have here is very unofficial and not specific. There is no legitimate update at this point.” Read Ball’s full column here.
