The 2,500-square-foot expansion of Happy’s Irish Pub downtown is scheduled to be completed this weekend. The popular pub’s newly expanded patio opened for business last month in time for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Now, the entire project is complete.
“It will be an expansion of Happy’s with pool tables and shuffle boards, just a good place to hang out,” says Brandon Landry, whose company, Walk-Ons Concepts, owns Happy’s and the Walk-Ons.
Landry announced plans for the Happy’s expansion last year, after deciding not to pursue development of a scaled down Walk-On’s concept restaurant, called Walk-On’s Halfcourt, which would have gone into the space. Landry says he hasn’t abandoned the Halfcourt concept for downtown but that he hasn’t found the right space for it yet.
Meanwhile, Landry’s expanding Walk-Ons chain is keeping him busy. A Walk-Ons in Houma is under construction, and new Walk-Ons planned for Zachary and Juban Crossing will break ground “very shortly,” he says. The company is continue to look for other new locations but has no firm plans at this time.
