Gwen Hamilton, who spent the past three years as director of education reform for the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, has taken a job with Mayor Kip Holden’s office. Although Holden’s office wouldn’t comment on Hamilton’s hiring, a receptionist there confirmed she is serving as an assistant chief administrative officer. James Llorens, an assistant CAO, was recently named chancellor of Southern University. Before going to work for BRAC, Hamilton was director of civic leadership initiatives for the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. Mike Odom, a BRAC spokesman, says the chamber was sad to see Hamilton go. “She really pushed our education reforms forward,” he says. —Timothy Boone
