The Louisiana Supreme Court has disbarred Baton Rouge personal injury lawyer E. Eric Guirard and his law partner, Thomas Pittenger, for paying nonlawyers commissions to settle claims. The court ruled that the pair “harmed their clients” by not providing lawyers to analyze their cases, according to media reports. Guirard, best known for his “E Guarantee” commercials, and Pittenger both have denied any misconduct, and have since changed their practices. They have also renamed their law firm Guirard Dudley DeBosier. The Office of Disciplinary Counsel began an investigation in 2000. Spokeswoman Denise Bottcher said today the firm had not yet seen a copy of the ruling.
