After a decade-long hiatus, the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors is bringing back its Commercial Investment Division bus tour.
The CID tour will visit prominent commercial and mixed-used developments in Baton Rouge and Ascension parishes. The bus will make stops in downtown Baton Rouge, Zachary and Central, among other areas.
Sean McDonald, president of the GBRAR CID, says the tour is meant to familiarize agents with new developments in the Baton Rouge metro area.
McDonald says about a decade has passed since the tour was offered. The last one he can recall taking place was in 2006 or 2007.
“When the economy slowed down and a lot of development slowed down, it (the tour) just kind of rolled off,” McDonald says.
Following the Great Recession, real estate development in the greater Baton Rouge area picked up steam, helping to spark the revival of the bus tour, he says.
McDonald says the tour is partly meant for inspiration. But there’s more to it.
“It’s also for the developments to say ‘Hey, I have 20,000 square feet. Come bring me a tenant,’” he says.
McDonald says a few seats are still available on the tour, which is scheduled to leave Perkins Rowe at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and return by at least 4 p.m. Details are still being finalized, but McDonald says a walking tour of downtown Baton Rouge is planned. Registration is required. Tickets cost $20. Get more information.
