Technical glitch: Despite technical issues keeping customers from buying tickets online, a manager for the Movie Tavern on Citiplace Court said business has been good so far on the first day. The theater opened this morning after months of renovations to the old United Artists Theater not far from Interstate 10 and College Drive. The 45,193-square-foot theater includes 10 screens with digital projection and 3-D capabilities, a full bar featuring tap brews, wine list and cocktails, and a casual dining menu. There’s no word on when online ticket sales will be restored.

In a Tuesday call to preview the committee meeting, Sanford wouldn’t comment on how well she thinks Common Core is or isn’t working in public school classrooms. She said: “My opinion is of no value one way or the other.”

The move was not unexpected—officials set the same goal in a preliminary blueprint in January. Still, by moving forward with the official proposal, President Barack Obama is adding to a list of energy regulations that have drawn applause from environmentalists and ire from energy advocates.
