A Seattle-based game testing company called qalytics is moving into the Louisiana Technology Park.
Local officials welcomed the company to the park this morning with an announcement at the campus on Florida Boulevard. At the Tech Park, qalytics will have access to a range of services, including assistance with business planning, financing opportunities, and technical support and training.
Mayor Kip Holden’s administration and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber have been negotiating with the company to move to Baton Rouge for two years after meeting company executives at a game development conference in San Francisco. Larry Kelly, who founded the company, says they plan to bring 20 jobs to Baton Rouge in the next year. Kelly says the state’s tax credits available to game developers played a role in attracting the company. Jeremy Hymel, a Baton Rouge native, will manage the company’s employees in Baton Rouge. Kelly says the company will begin Baton Rouge operations immediately.
Tech Park Executive Director Stephen Loy says the announcement is a reflection of the park’s ability to attract companies.
“We’re able to take home-grown entrepreneurs and help them grow, and encourage international companies to make this their home,” Loy says. —Kelly Connelly
