Applications are being accepted for a competitive program that provides up to $50,000 in investments to entrepreneurs seeking to launch early- and idea-stage companies in the Baton Rouge area.
Delta I-Fund—administered by The Innovation Hub at Winrock International in partnership with entrepreneurial support organizations like the Louisiana Technology Park—trains entrepreneurs in the eight-state Delta Regional Authority territory, according to a news release.
Applications for the fund’s 2018 program will be accepted until Dec. 31, with training to begin on Feb. 3.
Teams accepted into the Delta I-Fund program will have access to up to $50,000 in investment funding and must complete a 12-week training program, the release says. An experienced mentor from the business community will be assigned to help each team.
The Delta I-Fund targets entrepreneurs and early-stage startups with business models tied to patented university research, software and other IT-based platform solutions, as well as other patented or proprietary technology or innovation.
Investments offered to each team will be made via a SAFE agreement, in which teams commit to giving the Delta-I Fund equity ownership if a company is launched, and at terms tied to a future financing.
