Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne says the Volunteer Louisiana program is granting nearly $2 million from the federal AmeriCorps program to four service organizations in Louisiana. Dardenne’s office says the organizations involved are City Year Louisiana, Presbytery of South Louisiana, the St. Bernard Project and Teach for America. The money will support AmeriCorps, the national program that serves thousands of nonprofit and faith-based organizations around the country. Dardenne’s release says the Volunteer Louisiana program will grant additional AmeriCorps funding to other Louisiana organizations in July.
