The Livingston Economic Development Council announced today it will provide an update on efforts to establish a community college and technical campus in Livingston Parish at a public forum early next week. The meeting is set to take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Our Lady of the Lake Livingston, 5000 O’Donovan Blvd., in Walker. “Organizers will unveil plans for a community and technical campus adjacent to the existing Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center in Walker,” LEDC says. “The proposed institution would bring needed workforce development and technical training to Livingston Parish.” Last fall, the organization submitted a request for $5.2 million in Capital Outlay funds for parking, a shop building and classroom for the proposed school. The request will be taken up in the forthcoming legislative session, which begins April 8. LEDC has more details on the proposed plan for the school here.
