Emerson Electric Co. says it will build a 105,000-square-foot, $10 million regional headquarters in Gonzales, creating 50 new jobs with salaries averaging $49,900 annually, plus benefits. Company officials were joined by Gov. Bobby Jindal today to lay out the plans. Emerson works with businesses to help them automate production and processing for chemical, oil and gas, refining, pulp and paper, power and wastewater treatment plants, according to the governor’s office. The state will give Emerson a $375,000 modernization tax credit, paid over five years. The company also is expected to get an industrial tax exemption and a quality jobs tax break. The regional headquarters is slated to be complete in late 2013. “This expansion will give our citizens the opportunity to work for a first-class, Fortune 500 company, and it will give our schools the opportunity to use a $1 million training facility to train the workforce of the future in the latest technology,” Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux says in a statement. Complete details on the announcement are available at the governor’s website here.
