Chauvin businessman and former state senator Marty Chabert is planning to open a meat and seafood market in Baton Rouge in about six weeks. Chabert says he’s hoping to have Marty J’s Specialty Meats, Seafood & Po-boys open by March 1 in the former City Café location at 13434 Perkins Road, between Siegen and Pecue Lane.
The space is currently undergoing interior renovations, and Chabert says he is still firming up a concept for the market.
This project is Chabert’s first establishment in Baton Rouge, but he’s not a stranger to the Capital City nor the restaurant business. He formerly owned a truck stop in Chauvin that sold hot food with local flair and also featured a meat market. Daily Report has the full story.
