Louisiana’s trade association for the health benefits industry has named Jeff Drozda as its new CEO, effective March 5. Drozda is succeeding longtime CEO Gil Dupré, who has led the Louisiana Association of Health Plans for more than 15 years and is retiring on March 2. Drozda has served as vice president of state government affairs for UnitedHealthcare since 2008, working with governors, legislators, insurance commissioners and their staffs on key health care issues. He was also a state senator of Indiana for six years, where he represented over 135,000 residents and served on the Senate Insurance Committee. “His extensive experience makes him the ideal professional to lead our association in the rapidly evolving and challenging health care environment,” says LAHP Board of Directors President J. Pegues. In his new role, Drozda will be responsible for managing all activities of the association, including advocating on behalf of the health benefits industry, coordinating legislative and regulatory activities, promoting membership, conducting educational events, coordinating workgroups and committees, overseeing communications and managing the association’s administrative functions.
