Don Evans, the former city-parish chief information officer, has been mentioned in a New Orleans bribery trial. According to The Times-Picayune Evans received a Napa Valley vacation and a luxury hotel room in New Orleans from Mark St. Pierre, a technology contractor. St. Pierre is accused of paying kickbacks to get government contracts. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Orleans says St. Pierre’s company, NetMethods, got an $800,000 contract with the city-parish for crime cameras. Jimmy Goodson, one of St. Pierre’s employees, testified Monday in federal court about arranging the vacation and hotel rooms for Evans. Evans, who has not been charged with a crime, resigned from his city-parish job in October, right after his name surfaced in connection with the kickback scheme. Read the Times-Picayune story here.
