The delinquency rate in Baton Rouge over the past year rose slightly more than the average rate increase for the rest of the state, according to a new report. The number of people 90 days or more behind on their mortgages locally was nearly 6% in October, a 0.38 percentage point increase from October 2009, says CoreLogic. That compares with the Louisiana average, which went up 0.36 points to 6.55%. Nationally, the delinquency rate was 7.9%, up from the 7.82% of borrowers who were three months or more late in October 2009. The percentage of outstanding mortgages that were foreclosed upon in the Capital Region during October was 2.39%. That’s 0.53 points up from the 1.85% foreclosure rate in October 2009. The percentage of outstanding mortgages that were foreclosed upon in Louisiana during October was 2.64%. That’s 0.64 points up from the 2% foreclosure rate in October 2009. The U.S. foreclosure rate was up by 0.41 points, from 2.92% in October 2009 to 3.33%.
