Widespread economic woes in the U.S. don’t appear to have negatively affected the net worth of the majority of the nation’s wealthiest. According to Forbes‘ latest list of the 400 richest Americans, the combined wealth of those on this year’s list is $1.5 trillion—a 12% increase from the year previous. The average net worth of the list makers is $3.8 billion. Some 262 people on the list saw their fortunes grow, the magazine reports, while 72 saw a decline. This year, entrepreneurs dominate the list at an all-time high of 70%. Bill Gates tops the list for the 18th year in a row with a value of $59 billion. Gates’ fortune swelled by $5 billion from a year ago, outpacing the list’s No. 2 person, Warren Buffett, whose net worth is $39 billion. See the full list at Forbes‘ website here.
