A futuristic design for a massive 4.3 million-square-foot mixed-use development, including a hotel, in the historic center of Zhengzhou, China, is one of seven “hotels of the future” lauded by Forbes magazine. Baton Rouge-based Trahan Architects announced landing the project in February, and principal architect Trey Trahan says the $880 million proposed building is by far the largest the firm has ever designed. It’s more than twice the size of a 1.9 million-square-foot renovation of the Superdome the firm also completed. Forbes notes, “The plan is just in its very early schematic design phase, which could take another two years to be wrapped up.” Along with Trahan, the Trahan Architects design team on the building includes senior designer Mark Hash, designer Teddy Tu, and project team members Art Terry and Kim Nguyen. Check out a slideshow of all the projects included in the Forbes “Hotels of the Future: 7 Architectural Stunners on the Horizon” list here.
