Louisiana’s natural resources secretary says the state has received the first $5 million deposit as part of an agreement reached in November with BP to help revitalize state tourism after the Gulf Coast oil spill. The agreement calls for BP to provide $30 million over 18 months. Secretary Scott Angelle says in a news release that the money has been deposited into an account within the Community Foundation of Acadiana, which serves as the fiscal agent for the recovery funds.
