Add the FBI to the list of law firms, SEC officials and competing wealth management firms vying for the attention of Stanford Financial Group victims. The FBI on Monday released a statement calling for potential victims to submit their claim to bureau as part to “determine the extent of the potential fraud.”
Kathryn Turman, director of the FBI’s Office for Victim Assistance, said, “The FBI understands the devastating financial, emotional, and physical impact that fraud can have in the lives of individuals and families. We see it every day. Even in these large-scale cases, the victims and their losses are not just numbers to us. Even when we cannot restore lost funds we can usually provide help, hope and support as we also work to bring justice to the perpetrators who are suspected of inflicting the damage.”
Although the statement fails to divulge any further details regarding the ongoing investigation against Stanford, they are both collecting victim information and offering assistance connecting victims with additional resources.
