Caroline Fayard, who had earlier announced plans to run for secretary of state this fall, now says she won’t run for office this year. Fayard, a Democrat who gave Jay Dardenne a challenge in the lieutenant governor’s race last year, says in a statement that running for secretary of state this year is not the correct decision. “My decision has not been easy, nor expected, and I hope it is seen as a demonstration of service above self,” says Fayard.
