A Family Dollar is relocating to Plank Road just north of Hollywood Street, following the recent sale of vacant land on Plank, says the real estate agent who brokered the deal.
The approximately 3.2-acre tract, located at 5566 Plank Road, sold for $400,000 and includes the purchase of excess land that will be used to satisfy requirements for the building site. Construction of the store will begin within the next 60 days and is expected to be completed in eight to 10 months, says Ben Graham of Sperry Van Ness | Graham, Langlois & Legendre, who represented both the buyer and seller in the deal.
Family Dollar stores typically measure about 10,000 square feet. The store is relocating to allow better accessibility and functionality of the space. Graham says he isn’t certain about the store’s current location.
The buyer of the tract is a limited liability company called 3D Plank Road LLC of Houston, and the sellers were Saleem and Aicha Dabit. The buyer has recently developed a number of stores throughout the state and is a regional developer for Family Dollar.
Headquartered in Matthews, North Carolina, Family Dollar is a publicly traded company with more than 7,100 stores in 44 states, including 20 in the Baton Rouge area.
