NEW ORLEANS (AP) — State officials have lifted a quarantine on a barn at the New Orleans Fair Grounds race track.

The barn was quarantined on Dec. 26 after a horse turned up positive for being infected with equine herpes virus.

The quarantine, ordered by the state agriculture department and the Louisiana State Racing Commission, affected horses trained by Dallas Stewart and Neil Howard.

All 66 horses in the barn tested negative for the virus earlier this week. Officials said those horses may resume training and may enter races.

Five horses that had positive tests remain off the track and will be tested again Monday.
