His 5-year-old technology-laced concrete manufacturing company, Baker Ready Mix & Building Materials, recently won the National Black Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award. While serving in several cabinet level business development positions with the mayor’s office, the president and CEO discovered on a trade mission to South Africa the “economic generator” qualities concrete plants have on blighted communities. In June, he will be inducted into the Chase Business Hall of Fame, and also serves on the boards of GNO Inc., the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, the New Orleans Public Belt Rail Road and others.
