Gov. Bobby Jindal says Hurricane Isaac continues to move across south Louisiana at a slower than expected pace, and that the eye of the storm “won’t be coming to Baton Rouge until later” than the earlier forecast 1 p.m. passing. Jindal says Isaac “will be moving through our state, and we’ll be dealing with it through early Friday morning.” At a noon press conference to provide a general update on the storm, Jindal noted he held a briefing with President Barack Obama earlier today. The governor says the latest forecast calls for Isaac to dump 12 to 16 inches of rain over most areas of south Louisiana, with some areas receiving up to 20 inches. Tropical-force storm winds are expected to persist throughout the evening for the Capital Region. You can check out the latest update from the National Weather Service on Isaac here.
