ExxonMobil is considering upgrading and renovating the administrative office buildings located on its 2,000-acre site in north Baton Rouge. The evaluation process is lengthy, and it’s too soon to say for sure how extensive the upgrades will be or how many employees will benefit from the project. But an Exxon spokesperson says the goal of the upgrade will be to improve safety and functionality at the facility.

“We not sure yet what the scope of the project is and which buildings will be affected,” says Stephanie Cargile, public and government affairs manager at ExxonMobil Baton Rouge. “But if fully approved, the work will take place over the next few years.”

While Exxon looks at renovating its existing facility, the company has no plans at the moment to relocate its administrative offices to a new building. For years, there has been talk in downtown circles about Exxon’s possible move to a site downtown or elsewhere in north Baton Rouge. Cargile had heard the rumors, too, but says the company has no plans to build a new administrative office for at least the next few years.

“However, we will continue to address our longer term administration building needs and consider strategic options for the future,” she says.
