Of all the Baton Rouge-area executives, Gordy Rush perhaps epitomizes LSU football more than any other.

As Business Report details in its latest executive spotlight, Rush’s time playing for LSU in the late 1980s gave way to a robust broadcasting career, along with involvement with organizations like the Tiger Athletic Foundation. Rush appears to live and breathe Tigers football.

But that’s just a perception. Rush, now the vice president and general manager of Guaranty Media, is as passionate about business as he is about sports, Business Report writes.

Rush oversees a team of five local radio stations in the Guaranty network, along with working as the sideline reporter for the LSU Sports Radio Network. Plus, he’s racked up professional awards from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters.

“Awards and recognition are nice, but they all eventually wind up on a shelf or in a box in the attic,” Rush says.
