Envoc, a Baton Rouge-headquartered software development and application-hosting company, announced today it has acquired Maxon Media, an interactive design firm also based in Baton Rouge. The deal closed Jan. 3. Evnoc is rebranding Maxon as Envoc Creative, with the new company acting as the firm’s design wing. Envoc Creative will offer services across print, Internet and mobile platforms. Envoc purchased Maxon from Ron McDaniel and Michael W. Lipe, who co-founded the firm in 2004. McDaniel says the acquisition is “a natural marriage of two great philosophies” and that the company is in “unbelievably good hands.” He says that Envoc will retain all of Maxon’s employees and has moved Maxon’s base of operations to its own facilities. The two firms have collaborated for years on various projects, with Envoc providing technical tools and Maxon handling creative aspects. “There was no crossover of services,” McDaniel says. “We’ve been working with them for about seven years, and we were billing them so much that buying us was cheaper.” The exact value of the acquisition has not yet been settled, McDaniel says. Calvin Fabre, founder of Envoc, says he is “proud to have this incredible pool of talent join our team, and we’re very enthusiastic as to what the future holds.” Envoc specializes in software programming, support and application-hosting services to commercial and governmental clients, and also has offices in Hammond and Houston. —Ian McGibboney
