For the second straight year, New Orleans-based Entergy Corp. saw its ranking on the Forbes 500 list rise, while Monroe-based CenturyLink fell in the listing of the nation’s top 500 companies by gross revenue after adjustments and excise taxes.

Entergy and CenturyLink are the only two Louisiana firms on the list.

At No. 241, Entergy’s ranking rose one spot from last year. Energy’s revenue of roughly $12.5 billion last fiscal year marked a 9% increase from $11.4 billion during the previous fiscal year. Profit for Entergy, at $941 million, grew by 32% last fiscal year, according to Fortune. Entergy was ranked No. 261 on the 2013 list, and No. 239 in 2012.

CenturyLink, meanwhile, saw its ranking slip 10 spots to No. 168 on the 2015 list. The company’s revenue of roughly $18.1 billion last fiscal year was essentially unchanged from the year previous, as was its profit of $772 million. In 2013, CenturyLink was ranked No. 164 and No. 171 in 2012.

Baton Rouge lost its only Fortune 500 company with the 2013 acquisition of The Shaw Group—which was last ranked No. 412 on the list in 2012—by Netherlands-based CB&I. However, Fortune does publish data on the nation’s top 1,000 companies along with its Fortune 500 list, and Baton Rouge-based Albemarle is ranked No. 837 on that listing, down from No. 804 last year.

Wal-Mart Stores again retained its top spot on the Fortune 500 list this year, edging out ExxonMobil for the third year in a row. Rounding out the top five are Chevron, Berkshire Hathaway and Apple, all unchanged from last year. See the complete Fortune 500 rankings.
