Janice Pellar, EMCO Technologies CEO and board president, announced today she has sold the Baton Rouge company her parents started 50 years ago. Pellar will remain with the company as chair emeritus and director of community relations. She sold the company to a trio of its leadership team— IT group President Todd Bourgeois, communications President Pat Cuntz and Chief Financial Officer Mike Lee—for an undisclosed amount. “This has been an exceptionally well-planned and strategic decision for all of us,” Pellar says in a prepared statement. “I know this is the pathway to continued growth and success for EMCO Technologies, securing the next generation of leadership. I am confident the company is in great hands.” Pellar was president of the company from 1988 until 2008, when she restructured leadership and became CEO. She’s been with the company since 1976. In her new role, she will focus on “community involvement and continuing EMCO’s reputation as a civic leader.” In that spirit, the company says it is creating two new scholarships at Capital Area Technical College and Baton Rouge Community College, and will announce details soon.
