It’s been 20 years since Baton Rouge’s original Earth Day celebration, which means there’s now an entire generation of young adults who since birth have been educated about taking care of Mother Earth. The original slogan, “Think Globally, Act Locally,” will also be the slogan for Sunday’s event, as the Louisiana Earth Day celebration has become one of the largest environmental festivals in the nation. Live music by Cowboy Mouth and Tab Benoit, plus plenty of carnie food favorites, petting zoos and sustainability education. Also, Red Shoes hosts a shoe swap, so revamp your closet at their booth (details at theredshoes.org). The festival is just next door to Sunday in the Park; headlining is Kansas blues band Moreland & Arbuckle.

Friday evening, Live After Five kicks off with MoJeaux, a top 40 rock band, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on North Boulevard at Third Street. Saturday morning is the Corporate Cup, which benefits the Big Buddy Program, and the Manship Theatre takes you on a swamp pop journey with the screening of The Promised Land, a documentary about music in South Louisiana.
