The partners in the Dudley DeBosier law firm have purchased the 10,000-square-foot building at 1075 Government St. where it has been headquartered since its inception about six years ago. In a deal that closed Tuesday, the partners bought the building for $2.3 million from 1075 Government LLC, represented by Thomas Pittenger.

“We’ve been leasing this building from Tommy ever since we launched the firm and we’ve constantly been in the process of trying to buy it from him,” says Steven DeBosier, a partner in the firm, along with Chad Dudley and James Peltier Jr. “We actually had a purchase agreement back in 2014, but it’s just taken a long time to deal with some environmental issues and negotiate the purchase.”

Now that the firm has the building in hand, the partners are planning an expansion.

“We consider ourselves a gateway into downtown Baton Rouge here and we’re really excited about increasing our presence in the area,” says DeBosier, who noted that the firm plans to expand the offices by about 5,000 square feet and add some parking. “We’ve met with the architects and we’re starting the process. We’re hoping that within a year from now we can begin construction.”

DeBosier says the extra space is needed to accommodate growth within the firm. Since launching, the firm has grown to include offices in Prairieville, Lafayette, New Orleans and Shreveport. The number of attorneys at the firm, meanwhile, has risen to 22.

“We’ve experienced 20% to 25% growth every year over the past six years,” DeBosier says.
