OB/GYN • Baton Rouge General Physicians Group
For Victoria Bourgeois, five words from a patient can make her day: “You actually listened to me.”
That connection has helped the Baton Rouge General OB/GYN build a full-time practice in just a few years after residency. Board-certified in 2023, she cares for high-risk obstetric patients whose needs require collaboration with specialists across the hospital.
Her practice also spans generations. She cares for Medicare patients and offers minimally invasive options, including robotic surgery for conditions such as uterine fibroids. Throughout, she wants women to feel heard and understand the choices available to them.
Bourgeois is helping shape the next generation of care, too, educating new doctors in Baton Rouge General’s residency program. Beyond the clinic, she uses podcasts and public appearances to explain women’s health issues, from pregnancy questions involving GLP-1 medications to potentially harmful social media trends.
Her next ambition is a stronger OB/GYN service line and broader access to care.
What guides a difficult decision: “I always imagine the desired outcome first and then work backwards to figure out the best way to reach a goal. For other decisions, it comes back to the simple principle: Do what is right, even when it isn’t easy. I definitely try to trust my instincts, too.”
