Editor’s note: The following is a corrected version of a story that originally ran in the Tuesday, Dec. 9, edition of Daily Report PM. The story incorrectly identified the owner of the nightclub and attributed the quote about plans for the nightclub to the wrong person.
As downtown continues to attract a diverse business base, three businesses—including an engineering firm, a nightclub and a yoga studio—have plans for growth in the downtown area, Downtown Development District Executive Director Davis Rhorer announced at the district’s monthly meeting Tuesday morning.
Atkins, a global engineering firm, has opened an office at 445 North Blvd. after winning a contract with the state Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority. Atkins also has worked on Baton Rouge’s Green Light Project, as well as with the state Department of Transportation and Development and the Department of Natural Resources. Atkins has one other Louisiana-based office, in Metairie, in addition to 27 offices in the Gulf Coast states and 70 offices nationwide.
Meanwhile, owners of the nightclub and lounge at 600 Main St. that previously was called 600 Main and then Play are rebranding the club once again. It now will be called Enclave.
“We’re restructuring to become a better Baton Rouge business,” Shannon LeDuff, who co-owns the club with her husband, said at the meeting.
The club plans to offer hookah during happy hour and to host events such as poetry slams, fashion shows and live music, LeDuff said.
Also, One Heart Yoga has relocated to 340 St. Joseph St. in Beauregard Town from the building it occupied in the Perkins Road overpass area for more than 20 years. —Kelly Connelly
