Terra Industries has restarted production at its Donaldsonville fertilizer plant, nearly three months after the facility was idled. The Iowa-based company says it was economically feasible under current market conditions to re-open the ammonia plant. “Ammonia prices went down radically late last year,” says Joe Ewing, a spokesman for Terra. The plant was idled on Dec. 8; during that time repairs were made at the facility. About 25 people work at the facility, which can produce up to 500,000 tons of ammonia per year.—Timothy Boone
