Developers have broken ground on The Blake at The Grove, an upscale senior living facility on 8.5 acres of land just off Interstate 10 behind the Mall of Louisiana.
The Blake is a mixed-use community built in a village center theme. It will consist of 213 unit—111 will be for independent living, 67 will be for assisted living and another 35 suites will be included in an adjoining memory care support facility that focuses on Alzheimer’s and dementia care. The Blake is expected to open in summer 2017.
Mississippi-based CR Properties and Cardinal Ventures of Richland are jointly developing the community within developer Richard Carmouche’s planned development community, The Grove. Blake Management Group, a privately owned senior living management company, operates all Blake communities. The company has locations in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and South Carolina.
“BMG recently opened up our first community in Louisiana, The Claiborne at Thibodaux, a CR Properties community. We are soon to open a beautiful new community in Lafayette,” says BMG CEO Jeremy Cole. “The Blake at the Grove will be our third community and our only full retirement campus in the state.”
Last year, Cardinal Ventures Vice President Harrison Young told Daily Report his company was drawn to The Grove because of the mixed commercial and residential development within.
“We try to locate in TNDs or mixed-use developments whenever we can,” he told Daily Report. “We like to be in vibrant, active environments to draw our residents out of the facility and into the community.”
The developers say the senior care facility will have access to specialty shops, outlets, cafes, restaurants and Baton Rouge’s medical hub. Independent and assisted-living floorplans are available in one and two bedrooms as well as studio suites.
