Denbury Resources Inc. will tell all during an open house at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge. The firm plans a progress report on the 320-mile Green Pipeline being built from Donaldsonville to Hastings, Texas. The pipeline is the first of its kind designed to transport both natural and man-made carbon dioxide. The CO2 will be injected into existing reservoirs to recover additional crude from depleted fields. According to a recent U.S. Department of Energy study, as many as 85 billion barrels of oil in existing U.S. oilfields can be recovered through CO2-enhanced oil recovery. Up to 5.9 billion barrels are along the Gulf Coast. The $750 million project is expected to create nearly 800 jobs. Denbury is the largest oil and gas producer in Mississippi and owns the largest carbon dioxide reserves east of the Mississippi River.
