DDD spotlights young entrepreneurs

Some 23 young entrepreneurs are “reshaping downtown Baton Rouge,” DDD Executive Director Davis Rhorer says. “They’re delivering residential, grocery, florist, a pharmacy, restaurants,” he says. “They’re blazing the trail for a new level of, I think, enlightenment in downtown.” The “creative class” is celebrating and helping to drive the rebirth of downtown, he says. A few of those entrepreneurs were spotlighted today at the DDD Commission meeting, including one of the newest arrivals: Paul Dietzel II of Anedot. The seven-person firm, now on Laurel Street, helps nonprofits, charities and political campaigns accept donations through websites, social media and mobile devices. Other businesses started by young entrepreneurs mentioned today include Prescriptions to Geaux, which Rhorer says will open in about a month, Corner Grocery, which will feature fresh local produce and possibly open by April, and florist Fleur Du Jour on Third Street. —David Jacobs
