Downtown Development District officials are applying to the state to expand downtown’s cultural products district so that it will encompass the entire DDD boundaries, Executive Director Davis Rhorer says. The move is intended to allow vendors at the Main Street Market and the monthly downtown Arts Market to sell original works of art without charging sales tax. Also discussed at today’s DDD Commission meeting:
—The commission voted to endorse the 10.6-mill transit tax proposal that goes before voters in Baton Rouge, Baker and Zachary on April 21.
—”Love is in the square” is being featured tonight in the new North Boulevard Town Square, Rhorer says. Love songs will be playing, and over 100 people have submitted pictures to be shown on the screen of the Town Square media beacon. —David Jacobs
