White Star Market, the upscale food hall that will be located in the Square 46 mixed-use development underway on Government Street, has added a wood-fired pizzeria to its lineup.

Joe and Shelly Forte, who have built up a local following with their food truck in recent years, plan to open Dat’z Italian in the food court. The menu will consist of wood fired pizzas with locally sourced ingredients, as well as lasagna, pastas and cannolis on a rotating basis. The couple also hopes to offer a selection of gourmet gelato.

White Star Market owner Clark Gaines calls Dat’z Italian a “perfect fit” with other committed tenants in the food hall, which will include Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar, Gov’t Taco, Robear Ln., Fete au Fete, Chow Yum Phat, Another Silver Spoon and Rêve Coffee Roasters, among others. There will be 10 total spaces in White Star Market, which will feature a communal kitchen for tenants.

The 25,000-square-foot Square 46 development will sit on the site of the old Giamanco’s restaurant and will contain commercial, office and residential space. Developer and architect Josh Hoffpauir has leased 5,900 square feet of space in Square 46 to Gaines for White Star Market. Square 46 broke ground in July and is expected to be completed in the late spring or early summer of next year.
