Creative Capital of the South launches today

Want to get in on the ground floor of launching the Creative Capital of the South? The Baton Rouge Area Chamber and 60 of its closest regional partners will launch the new branding initiative tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Varsity Theatre, 3353 Highland Road. The Creative Capital of the South encompasses the nine parishes of the Baton Rouge area and has six principles: job creation, international investment, entrepreneurship and innovation, talent development, global branding and regional competitiveness. In addition to live performances from area arts groups, the evening will kick-off the Creative Capital of the South photo contest and the launch of a Web portal allowing visitors to learn about the entities and events across the region. To live-tweet about the Creative Capital of the South launch, include the hash tag #Cre8vCapLaunch. “With the ‘Creative Capital’ campaign, we have an opportunity to be one of the leading growth regions in the entire South, and perhaps the nation,” says BRAC President & CEO Adam Knapp. Knapp cites a recent AOL report that ranked Baton Rouge as one of the top eight cities for job growth in 2011, behind cities such as San Diego, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
